Luxury in Egypt is less about marble lobbies than about access and timing: a room that looks straight at the Great Pyramid, a guide who gets you into Karnak before the coaches, and a boat small enough to moor at an island no big ship can reach.
Our luxury journeys are built around Egypt’s great historic hotels, the Marriott Mena House in Giza, the Sofitel Legend Old Cataract in Aswan and the Sofitel Winter Palace in Luxor, with a boutique cruise ship or a private dahabiya on the river between them. A senior Egyptologist travels with you, and everything from airport meet-and-assist to private felucca afternoons is arranged in advance.
What to expect

- A senior private Egyptologist, private vehicles and VIP meet-and-assist at Cairo airport
- Unhurried pacing, with time for the pool, long lunches and sunset on the Nile

Luxury Egypt tours: FAQs
What makes an Egypt tour luxury?
The hotels and boats, the guide and the pace. Our luxury tours use Egypt’s best historic and five-star hotels, a boutique cruise ship or dahabiya, and a senior Egyptologist throughout, and they leave more free time so the trip never feels rushed.
Which hotel is best in Giza for pyramid views?
The Marriott Mena House sits at the foot of the Giza plateau, and its pyramid-view rooms look straight at the Great Pyramid. Several of our luxury itineraries include them; ask us to request one when you book.
Is a dahabiya more luxurious than a cruise ship?
It’s more exclusive rather than more lavish. A dahabiya carries a handful of cabins and moors at quiet spots, while a five-star ship has more facilities. Our cruise ship or dahabiya guide compares them.
How far ahead should I book a luxury Egypt trip?
Six to twelve months for October to April, and earlier for Christmas, New Year and Easter. The best suites, pyramid-view rooms and dahabiya cabins are limited and go first.
