Packing for Egypt: FAQs
What should I pack for Egypt?
Loose, modest, breathable clothes; broken-in walking shoes; SPF 50+ sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses; two type C plug adaptors; your medicines in original packaging; and small Egyptian pound notes for tips. Add a warm jacket from November to March, when mornings and desert nights are cold. Our Egypt packing list explains why each item matters.
Do I need warm clothes for Egypt?
Yes, in winter. From December to February, days are mild but early mornings, balloon flights, the drive to Abu Simbel and desert nights are cold, so bring a fleece or packable down jacket and a beanie. In summer a light layer for air-conditioned buses and flights is enough.
What should women wear in Egypt?
Loose clothing that covers shoulders and knees is comfortable and respectful everywhere, and a light scarf covers your hair for mosque visits. Swimwear is fine at hotel pools, on cruise sundecks and at Red Sea resorts. See what to wear in Egypt for more.
